Lars Willnat

John Ben Snow Research Professor, Newhouse School, Syracuse University

Lars Willnat (Ph.D., Indiana University) is the John Ben Snow Research Professor in the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. He was previously the director of the School of Journalism and Media at the University of Kentucky, and earlier taught at Indiana University in Bloomington, the George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research focuses on journalism studies, political communication, and comparative survey research.

David H. Weaver

Distinguished & Roy W. Howard Research Professor Emeritus, Media School, Indiana University

David H. Weaver (Ph.D., University of North Carolina) is Distinguished Professor and Roy W. Howard Research Professor Emeritus in Journalism at Indiana University's Bloomington campus, where he taught from 1974 to 2011 after working on four daily newspapers in Indiana and North Carolina.  He has published 14 books as well as numerous articles and chapters about journalists and journalism. He has won four Sigma Delta Chi awards (with Cleve Wilhoit) for research about journalism.

Cleve Wilhoit

Emeritus Professor of Journalism,

Media School, Indiana University 

G. Cleveland (Cleve) Wilhoit (Ph.D., University of North Carolina) is Emeritus Professor of Journalism and Associate Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies at Indiana University, and co-author of the four previous books in The American Journalist series. He was on the Steering Committee of News Research Center of the American Newspaper Publishers Association (ANPA) from 1975 to 1981 and received the ANPA distinguished service award.

Shuo Tang

Research Fellow,

Newhouse School, Syracuse University

Shuo Tang (Ph.D., Indiana University) currently is a research fellow at the Newhouse School of Public Communications, Syracuse University. His research interests include international and political communication. Dr. Tang also served on the research team of the 2013 American Journalist study and has conducted research on journalism in the United States and China.

Stan Jastrzebski

Research Assistant,

Newhouse School, Syracuse University

Now a Ph.D. student at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications, Stan spent 15 years as a journalist, working as a reporter in Chicago and Indianapolis before 12 years as a news director at three NPR affiliates. He’s won national awards from the Public Media Journalists Association and contributed to ten regional Edward R. Murrow awards.

Yu Tian

Research Assistant

Newhouse School, Syracuse University

Yu Tian is in her third year of the Ph.D. program at the Newhouse School of Public Communications, Syracuse University. She holds a B.A. in advertising and an M.A. in communications from the School of Journalism at Fudan University, China. Her research interests lie in the field of political communication with an emphasis on online vulnerability.
